5 Ways To Retain Great Employees

If there’s one thing we know how to do at Renoir, it’s spotting really good talent in the workforce. We also know a thing or two about retaining these employees (as our own internal staff has been with us for years!). So in this blog we’re sharing some of our methods. After all, the most successful investment you can make as a business owner is in your team!

  1. Communicate with your employees. If you implement only this one tip and none of the following, you’ll still notice a big difference in the energy of your team. Making yourself available, especially giving useful feedback on current projects, is a great way to make them feel like a part of the bigger picture. From there, why not take it to the next level and encourage them to share their own ideas and see their enthusiasm soar!
  2. Give them clear objectives. A clear objective includes providing the resources necessary (whether tools or training) an employee needs to meet the goal, and doing so will receive a VERY positive response from the team. Ensuring that they can do the work well makes them feel that they are providing value and don’t we all want that?
  3. Create a welcoming atmosphere. Take an anonymous (or not) survey asking your employees what changes they would like to see in their environment with the goal of making them more comfortable. If they’re happy in their workspace, you’ll notice it in their focus towards tasks.
  4. Eliminate distractions. While the ability to multi-task is impressive, lately employers have realized that too many tasks on an employee’s plate can hinder their ability to get work done efficiently. Be reasonable in delegating work and emphasize quality over quantity. Also, encourage your team to occasionally step away from the ringing phone, emails, and multiple tabs in order to focus solely on a specific project.
  5. And last but not least, be a mentor! Or provide one. No one wants to feel stagnant in their work, given little opportunity to expand on their skills. Being (or providing) a resource in connecting the team to trainings, etc., is a great way to keep the enthusiasm level high, as well as productivity!

We hope these steps are useful in establishing an exciting and productive workplace!
